The S.T.A.R.S. office was cool and quiet. Save for the constant rustling of papers and an occasional creak from the environments outdated, antique-like structure, Enrico was well-convinced that there wasn’t a more peaceful room throughout the R.P.D. precinct. For the time, anyway. The captain took an idle glance towards his watch. .. 1:37 pm He had set the time for team rendezvous for 2:00pm sharp. He was sure the others would be piling in sooner or later. Aside from that, the whole station had been under a commotion for almost two, whole months. It was madness. The phones were ringing non-stop, officers had been pulling double shifts left and right; there’d been days when reporters, news stations and citizens from all over the city had consumed the station, demanding answers and safety in the wake of the ‘Arklay Massacre.’ In the two years that Enrico had been stationed in Raccoon, never had he seen the R.P.D. in such a state of hysteria. And as much as he disproved of such disorderly reactions, he knew it was only fitting. People were dying. Families, couples, children.. picnickers, hiking groups. The outskirts of Raccoon were no longer safe, and had been so for too long. Outlying neighborhoods had been more desolate than ever before, primarily residents of the Victory Lake district. People had left their houses, some had moved completely, leaving the increasing number of ‘For Sale’ signs to the area with no necessary explanation. Again, it was only applicable. No one wanted to live in a community where several neighborhood kids had been found cannibalized. The captain sighed, leaning his heavy frame upon the front desk. He’d been standing in front of it. Documents of all kinds had been laid out in several, necessary orders and had been his point of interest for the past two hours, roughly. He didn’t bother in having anyone realize, but the R.P.D had basically been his home for the past four days. He’d worked relentlessly on various case reports concerning the Arklay slayings, and everything relating; hoping to study as much as he could before 'game day' and to derive something, anything that he may have overlooked. The night shift bunk room is where he’d been sleeping. Two days ago, Captain Wesker, Officer Branagh, Chief Irons and himself had even gone back to where the most recent killing had been for further analysis, along with several other officers. It had been in vein. The crimes that had ensued these past 3 months had perplexed everyone. There was no rhyme, no reason. And despite the local media’s confirmation of who and why, the reality was, there was no face nor reason as to what had engulfed Raccoon City. And that’s what bothered Enrico more than anything. He sighed once more with haste and picked himself up. He made his way to the right, pulling off several documents that had had been attached to the wall before making way to the left, towards the fax machine. He could be seen idly adjusting the machine when there’d been a knock on the door. “Yes?” The door opened, and Marvin appeared. “How’s it going in here?” The young officer’s tone was curious. Enrico appreciated his inquiry. “It’s going..” He said this while fixated on the paper in front of him. “Well, I’m headed down to the conference room. You want some coffee, or anything?” Enrico now met the man’s gaze, as he peered over silver-rimmed specs. “No. Thank you, Marvin.” The officer simply nodded and left. The fax machine activated with its odd, mechanical functions and Enrico turned back towards the front desk. His gaze was caught by an image that lay amongst the scattered collage of white and averted down to an open folder that held various crime scene photos; the top image having been of a little girl. Her lips had been torn from her face, displaying the crude imitation of a smile. Her eyes were wide, grey and vacant.. The fax machine had stopped, and complete silence had come to the S.T.A.R.S. office. Slowly, Enrico closed the folder softly, removed his glasses and quietly left the room. --- I kinda rushed it towards the end, but I do hope you'll like it. If you couldn't tell, there's really no direction as of yet. I wanted to start us off in such a setting for the sake of character depth; just to kind of experiment before getting into what's expected of the characters. at 1:40 PM exactly, Forest Spreyer entered the S.T.A.R.S. office and felt the creepy silence. It almost scared him. One of those 'zombies' would pop out of nowhere, grab him and chew his neck off. It was frightening. For months cases like these were piling up on the R.P.D members and the S.T.A.R.S. almost infinitely. Whether they were families or just individuals. But he had faith he would find them, because he was Forest. He took another sip of his coffee and sat down at his desk, waiting for something to happen. Enrico ordered them to be here at 2:00 PM sharp, and there was almost nothing he could do to predict what he would do. He slid a drawer on his desk open and took an object. A polished 9mm Beretta, S.T.A.R.S. edition custom made by the Kad-something brothers. Whatever the difference was from the normal Beretta, something told him this brown and black custom 'Samurai Edge' was almost no different from all the other 9mm he had worked with. "God DAMMIT!" the young sniper shouted. Every time he thought about the case, everything turned up blank. No patterns, no known motive, just random people getting cannibalized. And then they had that rookie Rebecca Chambers to deal with. An 18 year old, who just finished high school. But they did need her, if the sniper remembered correctly, he nearly bombed Chem and AP Chem in high school. Almost everyone else did. Rebecca had flown by the subjects, scoring excellent grades and acing the tests, and so she was recruited for some reason he didn't bother hearing about. All he knew that this was her first mission as a S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team member, and they'd probably have to look out for her. He took another sip of his coffee mug, and placed it on the table. He lifted the 'Samurai Edge' and pointed it at the wall, but for obvious reasons, it was unloaded. No chambered bullets or magazine, and if that wasn't enough, the safety was on. He didn't want to shoot people. but of course, he was point man, and that meant he had to dive in headfirst into the situation and give the rest the go-ahead. Another thing troubled him: Would he make it out alive? He was just a person, and people were turning into monsters. And he was no different. But whatever the case, he had to wait for big boss man or another of his superiors to come in. He was hoping Richard would come in, maybe take his mind off things. Another day, another mission. The last few months at the Raccoon Police Department had been as hectic as Kenneth ever remembered. The early months of summer marked the beginning of what the media had dubbed ‘The Arklay Massacre’. Over twenty disappearances and a dozen horrific murders in no less than three months. Panic swept over the city and along with it came ever major media outlet in the United States, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC. Raccoon city had become the focal point of the summer’s biggest story. Initial speculation was that a cannibalistic Jeffery Dahmer copy cat had surfaced in the peaceful, quiet town. This was quickly dismissed as bodies began showing multiple human dental structures and even that of canines. All forensic analysis on possible traces of salvia came back inconclusive. Raccoon City was dealing with criminals the likes they had never seen before. Firearms began flying off the shelves at local pawn shops and gun stores as families sought the comfort of personal protection. Facing criticism from the mass media frenzy and the public at large, police chief Irons announced his plans for the city’s initiative for dealing with unfolding tragic events. First a city wide curfew was to be heavily enforced between the hours of 11:00Pm to 5:00Am for all those not traveling to and from work, during which time there would be an increase in police presence, epically around the outskirts of town and the river banks where the majority of the murders were taking place. Secondly, the full cooperation and involvement of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service (S.TA.R.S.) as they to they took control of the investigation and continued to work alongside the department and federal agents to bring the case to a close. Last of all, a grant from state and several local companies, mainly Umbrella Corp, to purchase new equipment for the department and begin training a new batch of forty officers to be brought in three phases over the forth coming weeks. There were those nights where Kenneth stayed awake for hours peering over countless files and documents, some times pulling double shifts to take in all the information, yet never really getting any closer to the truth. That was last night, at least for most of the team. After pouring countless man hours into the investigation very little made any more sense than it did when the first murders happened. The entire killings were random, animal like if you would. No pattern could be found anywhere in the mix, black, white, man, woman, child, all had been targeted by the killers. Most of the attacks had occurred in reclusive areas and between the hours of dusk and dawn, but besides that they didn’t have much to go on. The leading theory was that they were dealing with a cannibalistic cult. One that mostly likely lived in either an old cabin in the Arklay Mountains surrounding the towns or one of the many caves or abandoned mining shafts that littered the mountain range. Recently Alpha and Bravo teams had divided shifts when they would go on grid by grid fly overs of the mountains in search of a possible hide out. This is what Kenneth expected as he approached the door for the S.T.A.R.S. office. Another day, another mission. As he cracked the door he half expected to be greeted by the tired face of his friend and captain, Erinco. The two had been working together late into the night again before Kenneth decided to call it a day’s work and head home at 4:00Am for some sleep. Judging by the cups of coffee and map covered in pin points, he took it Enrico never left. Instead there sat team marksmen Forest Speyer who was carefully inspecting his side arm. Kenneth let out a light cough, “How’s it going?” He pulled a seat close to the captains desk as his eyes scanned over the map of the surrounding mountain ranges. In the top right hand corner a single pin stood out far away from the rest. As he leaned in for a closer look he noticed this one in particular had been circled in red marker, presumably by Enrico. ‘Grid 2-2-6. What the hell’s he think out there? There ain't nothing out there, but woods for miles.’ Edited by Harvin, Oct 28 2009, 04:59 PM.

Kenneth was on schedule. Good, now he wouldn't have to hear Enrico OR Wesker bite heads off for being late. The last thing he needed besides getting scared was a headache. But the question his teammate asked him was harder to answer than the usual 'I'm fine' or 'It's cool'. No, it was harder to answer for some reason even though the answer still had the same meaning "Yeah, I'm OK. A bit tensed but I can deal with it." Forest replied trying not to switch seating positions. He had found his comfy spot, slouching in his roller chair, feet crossed and laying on top of each other on the table. He was aiming the empty weapon that would end som one's life soon at the S.T.A.R.S. photo behind their boss' desk. Specifically, he was aiming at Wesker, and then switched to Richard and then to Chris. Suddenly, his stumbled on Kenneth, but then headed towards Jill. He was losing his cool, and the shaking aim was telling the truth. "Bang." He said. Although it was just a normal play sound, he couldn't help but feel he had just seriously injured someone. |

… The young S.T.A.R.S. operative, nearly the youngest, was fidgeting with a handheld communication device. He intended to fix it up for the newest, yet youngest, member of S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team. A medic. She had graduated at the young age of eighteen-years-old. It was no rumor that the kid was a genius. Then again, perhaps that was the whole point of S.T.A.R.S. – to have various officers, with many different talents. Richard was his name. He was an operative employed by the Raccoon City Police Department, though he currently worked as a part of Special Tactics and Rescue Service. A group of highly-elite trained officers, kind of like a Special Forces, only part of the police force. The specialist took the screwdriver from the desk, and then proceeded to screw the last remaining screw back into the handheld communication device. “Perfect.” He spoke, a soft tone of voice. A bead of sweat dripped down his forehead, soon followed by several more, which he quickly removed via a swipe of his right arms’ sleeve. The room wasn’t so hot, as it was small, but he was so focused on the task at hand, that he completely caused his own forehead to sweat under pressure. Today was the day, after all. They – the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team – were going in head-first. The whole investigation process would be discussed in the upcoming meeting. As he turned, he noticed the clock atop of the doorway, which he nearly spit. It was already time. If he didn’t hurry, he would be late, and in which he would more than likely be yelled at. After all, it wasn’t as if this was the boys’ scouts. No, this was more complex, more thorough. The male soon started to sprint; pushing passed those in front of him, though apologizing while on the run. He wasn’t impolite. Not by any means. Unfortunately, he was probably the most civil and selfless of the group. Mostly due to his childhood. As he passed through the halls, he watched as the clock hands seemed to move in slow-motion, while he passed them by. 1:37, then 138, as he passed by the final hallway, soon appearing in the doorway to the S.T.A.R.S. office. A build up of sweat formed, while he panted and gasped, rather desperate for breath. His lungs were starving. His heartbeat was up. He was ready. Upon entering into the room, he took notice of Forest and Kenneth, two other members of Bravo team. Thankfully, for him, there was no sign of the Captain – yet. “Hey, guys. Where’s Enrico?” he asked, though knew well that the captain was more thorough than the lot. |

"No idea. And I was the first guy here" Forest replied with an uncaring tone He looked at Richard and studied him a bit. He was normal and standing tall. But that wasn't the case. Where was their team captain? |
