Posts: 3,325 Group: Legends Member #1 Joined: Sep 19, 2008	There has been some debate over whether or not Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is a spin-off or apart of the main series, and I frankly don't care. :r So you guys decide if I should start moving all CVX threads to the main series section or not. I guess it could have been, but it seemed like more of a filler (not that it really filled much anyway since Capcom decided to skip a few years anyway).

Just because there is no mention of rockfort in later games, has no purpose in the argument either. How many times do they mention the mansion incident, or raccoon police department in RE4 and RE5? I think Leon mentioned it once to Luis when they first met. But, there actually is mentioning of Rockfort Island in Re games. The intro to RE0, mentions of RockFort Island. As I will soon explain, Capcom remade RE1, and RE0 ... to fill in key elements and plot holes that would tie in, and explain the events that build to RE-CV. RE-CV(X) IS canon to the story. Now, lets' begin. RE0 retold the origin of Wesker & Birkin's plans to not only overtake Umbrella, but to also give Wesker the T-virus traits to make hum sub-human. Then, RE1 (GC remake), that's right, not the PS1 RE ending ... built the story arc of chris vs wesker. PS1 version open and closed that book. But, because Capcom shat on themselves for killing an interesting villian, they brought him back in, GASP, RE-CV for the DreamCast. this marked a HUGE turning point in the story, yes, the main storyline, the canon of the story for all RE games. So, when they went back to do RE0 & RE1 on the gamecube, they made sure to build onto the events that would lead to RE-CV, into the remakes. To go back and remake a classic, and original game to build more on that key plot alone is enough to warrant the story in RE-CV mattered most to the RE writers. But, I have more, lot's more ... The story behind Claire being in RE2 revolved around one thing ... finding her brother. The cliffhanger of RE2 ended when Claire says they have a job to finish, "Chris, I have to find you." Was the final phrase uttered at the end of Re2. Can somebody , PLEASE, tell me what was the opening cinema about in RE-CV. Thank You. It was Claire captured in Umbrella's Paris lab facility because she was searching for the whereabouts on her missing brother. Who was that again? ... yup, you guessed it, that main guy from RE1 , and also, that main guy in RE5 ;) The main hero from RE1, and the main heroine from RE2 (brother and sister), that started in the introduction of RE2 ... PLUS the main hero and main villian from RE1 came FULL CIRCLE when they all finally met up, in RE-CV. Chris, along with NO ONE knew Wesker was alive. The key moment when Wesker first confronted Claire at the steps of the Rockfort Assembly was without a doubt the BIGGEST twist in all the RE game story arcs. Players only who knew Wesker was alive because it was in the game's opening demo .. but they never knew when he was going to appear. Believe me, if any of you played theses games , all the way through, in the order they were released, with NO spoilers .... you would agree that when you first heard "Greetings" muttered in the background, then Wesker's face revealed, was a very, very satisfying moment for RE fans. Now, here's another bit of history. After the exclusive rights to RE-CV for the Dreamcast only, ended. Capcom set sailed for the PS2 version. And WE ALL know how lazy Capcom usually is with simply porting the exact same game onto another system. But, to everyone's surprise .. this wasn't a simple port. It was titled RE-CV(X) ... with NEW content, and new cinemas; to build on the return of Wesker. It also packaged a handy little 20 minute DVD , "Wesker's Report" ... why was this? Because in case you didn't play the first 3 games on the PS1 ... then this DVD would catch up up to the story of RE-CV(X) on the PS2 ... so you could easily jump on board and KNOW the characters' past stories.
